Lake Area Man Charged After 140 Child Porn Images Found On His Computer, Sheriff Says | Crime & Justice

A Brumley man is facing a felony charge for possession of child pornography.

According to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, 74-year-old Richard Thurman was arrested on Sept. 1 and has been charged with Class B Felony Possession of Child Pornography. The investigation into Thurman began as a result of a cyber-tip received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Miller County Detectives assigned to the Lake Area Cyber Crimes Task Force responded to Thurman’s residence and seized multiple computers they suspected contained child pornography. Those computers were sent to the Missouri Digital Forensic Center in Jefferson City to be examined.

On Aug. 30, the sheriff’s office says they received a report from the Digital Forensic Center that confirmed the seized computers contained more than 140 images of child pornography and more than 700 images of child exploitation.

Thurman is being held in Miller County Jail on $50,000 bond.
